With the sun shining and temperatures in the mid and upper 40s during the day on Thursday melting snow once again made for plenty of wet spots. These wet spots will have an opportunity to freeze overnight and create slick spots as temperatures fall into the low 20s under mainly clear skies.
Friday will start out with some sunshine, but with our next storm system approaching from the southwest the clouds will be increasing throughout the day. Highs on Friday will top out in the mid 40s. Friday evening rain will gradually overspread the region from southwest to northeast and by the wee morning hours on Saturday the entire viewing area will be experiencing rain. While some sleet may mix in at the onset of this event (mainly north of the Lehigh Valley) it won't last long and the should quickly change over to rain.
The rain will continue through Saturday morning and into the afternoon before tapering to showers as we head into the evening hours. At that point through Sunday there may be a few lingering showers, but the bulk of the rain will be over. Most locations will pick up between a half an inch and an inch of rain from this event. Since the ground is already saturated and streams and creeks are running high, we'll need to keep an eye on flooding on the tributaries this weekends...major rivers should be fine. Otherwise look for highs to be in the upper 40s and low 50s on Saturday.
