REPORTER a diaper drive aims to make sure families are covered. The Weyerhaeuser Distribution Center in Forks Township, Northampton County is behind the effort..participating in the company's 4th annual Operation Diaper Drive. Kimara Lovelace is coordinating the local collection.
KIMARA "We partner with two shelters so that they can at least help with the sheltering and we can help with the diapering."
Christine "We're completely reliant on donations."
REPORTER Mary's Shelter, Cay Galgon Center in Bethlehem is one of the locations that will get the diapers...to help parents like Lily Adefila .
Lily "i can't even describe how much it helps to relieve some of the costs."
CHRISTINE "Sometimes it might be the choice between food on the table or putting diapers on your child and nobody should have to make that choice."
Reporter The donated diapers will also help fill the shelves at Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown...where they will be much appreciated.
Alan "When you get food stamps or what are now called snap benefits, that can only be used to purchase food and diapers are an expensive thing that you need to get."
REPORTERalmost 23-thousand diapers last year...and want to top that this time around.
Kimara "The goal is 25 thousand but I'd love to see way more than that."
Lily "We really appreciate this drive, thank you very much."
