Settlement reach in cat abuse case against animal shelter director

A settlement has been reached in an animal cruelty case against the former director of an animal shelter in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

Prosecutors said 84-year-old Theresa Carlson has agreed to relinquish control of the Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter.

In exchange, authorities will drop animal cruelty charges.

Last year, Carlson was arrested after allegedly failing to adequately feed nine cats inside the shelter.
