A judge has upheld a murder conviction for a Bethlehem teenager who shot and killed a man.

Lucas Cabassa, 19, was convicted of first-degree murder in the June 2013 death of 25-year-old Joseph Rodriguez in Bethlehem's Lynfield housing complex.

Cabassa, who was 17 at the time of the murder, was sentenced to 51 years to life in prison.

Defense attorneys argued for a new trial.

They said Cabassa was a scared young juvenile confronted with a "gang of adults'' and hadn't intended to kill.

But, the judge who upheld the conviction said Cabassa was an active gang member who carried out a "cold blooded killing."
