Social club treasurer charged in theft of thousands

The treasurer of a social club in Reading is facing theft charges.

Security cameras caught Donald Frankhouser taking cash and scratch-off games of chance from the 18th Ward Democratic Club in the 400 block of Pansey Street, according to court documents.

About $8,000 in cash and nearly $1,000 dollars worth of games of chance were taken between February and October, police said.

Frankhouser admitted to using the money for gas and other purchases, police said.
