Fear of hand grenade closes Whitehall street

Fear of a hand grenade closed a Lehigh County street for a couple of hours Thursday evening.



The Whitehall fire chief says a man living in a Third Avenue home thought a hand grenade in his safe might be active.


The bomb squad was called in and soon discovered that the grenade was dead.


A block of Third Avenue was closed from just after 4 p.m. until around 6 p.m.
