Sunshine, brisk air returns after coating of snow

Most locations received their first coating to an inch or two of snow last night as a disturbance made its way through the area.

Thankfully most of the snow didn't stick to the roadways.

However it did make them wet and with temperatures hovering around 32 degrees this morning there may be a few slick spots on area roadways, especially north of the Lehigh Valley.

Today sunshine will return to the area, but in a part time role. The sunshine will not take the weather headlines today though.

Instead the headliner will be the colder air combined with the wind. Highs this afternoon will barely make it back to 40 degrees and with a strong wind out of the northwest it's going to feel like it's in the 20s and 30s all day long.

Overnight the winds will die down and skies will clear even more as temperatures fall into the chilly low 20s.

Saturday will be a chilly day too with highs only topping out in the low 40s despite plenty of sunshine.

Those low 40s may not feel as harsh on Saturday as they do today though thanks to less wind.

On Sunday look for the clouds to increase throughout the day as our next storm system takes shape.

Highs on Sunday will reach the mid and upper 40s before the precipitation moves in at night. The precipitation may start out as snow and a wintry mix in some spots before turning over to rain slightly warmer air moves in from the south.

The rain will then continue on and off throughout the day on Monday before coming to an end Monday evening.

Highs on Monday will reach the mid 40s.
