No charges against Easton cop who fatally shot suspect

Now..Kathleen Kane says no charges will be filed against the officer who fired the shots.WFMZ's Hilary Lane is live in the newsroom with the very latest...Hilary?>>Good evening Wendy and Rob.The Attorney General says as part of her independent review...she took a look at video surveillance footage, audio recordings, .and talked to several witnesses..She used the information to make her decision....The Easton Police Officer was within legal bounds when he used deadly force back in October. >>ReporterTonight...we have learned the identity of the officer involved in the high-speed-chase that turned deadly on October 24.According to the Attorney General's Office, Sergeant Dominick Marraccini was justifiable in using deadly force....after officials say Richard Scheuermann led police on a 22-minute high-speed chase through Palmer Township, Wilson Borough, and the Borough of Easton.According to the AG's office, audio and video recordings show Scheuermann ran multiple stop signs, drove the wrong way down one-way streets, and intentionally swerved toward a pedestrian and two police cars before his truck crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of 13th and Spring Garden Streets in Easton.Officials say Scheuermann then refused to get out of his truck...Instead he reportedly rammed his vehicle into a police car...multiple times.The Attorney General says Sergeant Marraccini feared for his own safety...so he fired his weapon at Scheuermann...hitti ng him twice. Officials say Scheuermann then continued to ignore commands from police...before stabbing himself in the neck with his own pocket knife.An autopsy determined Scheuermann died of gunshot wounds and stab wounds to the neck.The Easton Police Chief says he will now be reviewing those audio and video recordings. The department will conduct their own internal review.We'll have reaction from Scheuermann's family coming up at 6.>>>rob
