These days, when our roads and sidewalks aren't covered in snow and ice, they're covered in brine and salt.
Often we talk about the number that's doing on our cars, but it's also doing a number on your shoes.
For the past 60 years, Wesley Klausen has poured his heart and soul into his cobbler business..
"There aren't a lot of us left," said Klausen. During these cold winter months, Klausen stays plenty busy with weather-related repairs.
"I am going to sew a patch on it so that he won't have wet feet or a toe hanging out," he said. And the number one problems are shoe stains from all that salt and snow. It's a pesky problem many have been trying to combat this winter.
A little bit of water and vinegar can do the trick, but if not, Klausen suggests buying salt stain remover. Another product you might want to pick up a water- proofing spray.
"It's pretty much like hair spray you spray it on the shoe, said Klausen. "It's a water and stain protector and you can use it a leather coat, suede shoes, and leather shoes."
Another tip, take a look at the soles of your shoes. If they are flat and worn, you might want to have them replaced for safety reasons.
"I can actually put a sole on it that has some pattern to it, so you can get a better grip on them in nasty weather and snow," he said.
