James Decker, a supervisor and roadmaster in Monroe County's Stroud Township, has been charged with misusing township fuel credit cards for several years.
The charges against Decker were announced Wednesday by state Attorney General Kathleen Kane.
According to the criminal complaint, Decker used Stroud Township fuel cards to purchase more than $2,000 worth of fuel for his own use over a period of almost five years, with no intention of reimbursing the township for the purchases.
The 61-year-old Decker, who lives in the 1200 block of Mazzetti Road in Stroudsburg, is charged with one count each of theft, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and conflict of interest.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge C. Daniel Higgins Jr. and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. March 13.
The case will be prosecuted in Monroe County by Senior Deputy Attorney General John Flannery of the attorney general's criminal prosecutions section.
