An Allentown woman accused of leaving her young child in a freezing car took to Facebook to defend herself.
Mirella Rodriguez is not the only one who said she is a great mom.
The 23-year-old is charged with endangering the welfare of children after police said she left her one-year-old daughter in a minivan that was not running while she took her other child to get a haircut Tuesday afternoon.
Rodriguez posted the following comments on Facebook, which have since been deleted:
"Ok I'm getting tired of seeing this post about me on fb. Yes it is me they are talking about what I did and what I'm getting charged with is not the same . Anybody who knows me personally knows im a great mother and would never purposely harm my child . I'm all about my children and working. For those of you who dont know me jus know they blew the whole story out of proportion . If you've been involved with the cops you know first hand how they are . Thanks to everyone who inboxed me on how I am instead of bashing me to be a monster that I'm not ."
" I dont have to explain myself to nobody I know the truth and I know I'm not a bad mother . Y'all wanna bash me ? Go right ahead but guess what. ?? I'm still good . I still have my kids . My kids have everything they need and some . I don't ever flaunt the stuff my kids have because I'll make a lot of mothers look worthless . Y'all wanna knock me ? Go head . I'm for it . I'm strong nobody's words are going to knock me down . I'm taking this head on like for real . I'm not afraid because I know the truth ."
Rodriguez's father spoke with 69 News Thursday. He said his daughter would do anything for her kids but what she did was a stupid mistake. He says she's learned her lesson and will never do it again. The man also says the child was alone in the car for less than 20 minutes and Rodriguez was constantly checking on her. Police say witnesses reported the timeframe as anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes. Someone in the barber shop told 69 News it was about 15 to 20 minutes and Rodriguez did go out to check on the child a couple times. The baby was not hurt.
