Police are investigating the third report of an attempted child abduction in Berks County this week.
The Exeter Township School District advised parents that it was notified by police Thursday morning of a report that a seven-year-old girl was lured by a man Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Orchard View Road, according to a message on the district's website.
The student reported being approached by a white man in his late-20s who was driving a white, open-back pickup truck.
The man said, "Come here little girl," and the girl ran to her home, officials said.
A few moments later, the man reportedly knocked on the door of the girl's home.
The district encouraged parents to emphasize with their children the danger of strangers who might approach them.
In the meantime, Exeter police told 69 News that they have stepped up their patrols around school bus stops in the township.
