It was judgment day on Wednesday for an Allentown woman who was convicted of killing her own grandfather.

Chene Mejias was sentenced to 11-30 years in prison for murdering 65-year-old Wilson Mejias.

"I am her mom and I am going to love and support her no matter what," said Chevelle King, Mejias' mother.

King testified on behalf of her daughter Wednesday. She told the court that March 11, 2014 was the worst day of her life. She not only found out that her father was dead, but that it was her own daughter who had stabbed him to death inside his home on South 12th Street.

On the witness stand, King described her daughter as a good person who made a bad choice. King said it was Mejias's untreated mental illnesses that got the best of her.

Officials said back in March, Mejias stabbed her grandfather to death after she found him "pleasuring himself" outside of the bathroom, while Chene's girlfriend was inside.

This all happened at the home all three shared on South 12th Street in Allentown.

In the courtroom on Wednesday, a forensic psychologist testified for the defense. He concluded, after multiple family interviews, that Wilson Mejias was a "multi-generational abuser", having sexually violated Chene herself and other family members.

The doctor also said the defendant suffers form multiple disorders including depression and schizophrenia.

The diagnoses prompted the judge to order Mejias to undergo multiple psychological treatments during her 11-30 years in jail.
