NCAA RUNDOWN: Lehigh men prevail; Lafayette burned late

The Lehigh and Lafayette men's basketball teams were home on Saturday afternoon to Patriot League opponents. The Mountain Hawks held off Holy Cross while the Leopards were burned by American with less than a second left.


At Stabler Arena, Lehigh picked up its second conference win of the season, 69-64, over Holy Cross. Tim Kempton led the way for the Mountain Hawks with a career-high 26 points and 13 rebounds. Kahron Ross added 13 points and 10 assists.


Lehigh squandered a 20-point lead, but held on down the stretch.


At Kirby Sports Center, PeeWee Gardner's bucket with 0.3 seconds left lifted American past Lafayette, 78-76.


Gardner tallied a team-high 19 points. Dan Trist led all scorers with 25 for the Leopards, who drop to 3-3 in Patriot League play.
