Hundreds filled the streets of downtown Reading for the first annual Fire and Ice Fest.
Ice sculptures graced Penn Street between 4th and 6th.
"I love the fact that they're bringing people into the city. It's awesome just seeing all the ice sculptures," said Elizabeth Cedne.
The icy sculptures captured much of the city's history.
Blocks of ice were turned into replicas of The Pagoda, The Reading Railroad, Abraham Lincoln, the BARTA bus logo, and other iconic figures.
A "5-Alarm Chili Cook-Off" is schedule for Saturday at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel at 5th and Washington Streets in Reading.
There will also be live, outdoor music, as well as salsa dancing.
Admission for outdoor activities is free. Nominal admission fees will be required for special events.
Officials say Penn St. between 4th and 6th is expected to be closed to traffic until Sunday evening.
