Boyertown sweeps way into holiday tourney finals

The Boyertown boys and girls basketball teams earned semifinal wins in their holiday tournament on Friday night.


The Boyertown boys knocked off Southern Lehigh, 65-58, behind 13 points from Kyle Dennin. He hit a 3-pointer just before halftime to give the Bears a 5-point edge.


Noah Kandt poured in a game-high 25 points on 7 three-pointers to pace the Spartans.


Pennridge is set to meet the Bears for the championship on Saturday following a 79-70 win over Governor Mifflin in a chippy contest.


Dan Long tallied a game-high 22 points for the Rams. Four Mustangs scored in double-figures for the Mustangs in the setback.


In the girls bracket, Boyertown rolled past Daniel Boone, 67-20.


Abby Kapp had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bears, with Ali Bauman adding another 12 points.


They will face Downingtown East for the title on Saturday.
