An 18-year-old Doylestown man is facing charges after police say he sexually assaulted a salon employee in Montgomery County.
According to court documents, Marshall Isaac Gibson, of the unit block of Oak Drive, walked into a tanning salon in Montgomery Township just before 9 p.m. on February 25 and asked the female employee if he could use the business' restroom.
The woman gave her permission for him to use to restroom, and she entered a room with him, where he kissed her, officials said.
The 25-year-old woman told police she initially thought he was trying to be romantic, until he tried to raise her shirt, and she repeatedly tried to stop Gibson.
Police said he pulled a knife, put it to her throat and threatened the woman. She told police she knew she was going to be raped or sexually assaulted and out of fear for her safety, she complied.
He made her perform a sex act on her, then left the business, police said. She called 911 and was taken to Abington Hospital.
Using surveillance video, police identified Gibson as the perpetrator.
A week later, police interviewed Gibson, and court documents say he believed the encounter was consensual at first, but he acknowledged that consent was not present when she refused to remove her shirt.
He also told police that pulling the knife out was the wrong thing to do, documents say.
Gibson was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and related offenses.
He was arraigned Wednesday, and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after being unable to post $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for March 23.
