Monday's wintery mix creates slippery roads into Tuesday morning

A bit of wintry mix lingering in some areas, otherwise plenty of clouds, icy conditions with a low of 20.

On Tuesday, clouds will break for some sunshine with a high of 37 and a low of 16.


A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 6 am Monday for Berks, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Hunterdon Counties and the Philadelphia area.



Freezing rain and icy weather have been a big issue across the area on Monday causing some slippery conditions around the region. Ice accumulations ranged anywhere from 0.1" to 0.25", which was just enough to create some travel problems.


Some snow, sleet, and freezing rain pushed through parts of the area Monday into Monday evening. After the ice, snow accumulations were generally light. Most locations picked up around a coating to an inch or two, higher elevations saw slightly more. A good amount of cloud cover will remain overhead for the rest of the overnight along with a bit of wintry mix in spots. Icy conditions will persist into the early part of the day Tuesday.


Temperatures are also expected to be on the cold side with lows dipping into the 20s. The clouds will gradually break for some sunshine later in the day on.

Tuesday allowing high temperatures to rebound into the middle and upper 30s.


Wednesday will start off with some sunshine before the cloud cover begins to increase once again as another storm system approaches from the west. This system may bring us a period of light snow on Thursday.
