It looks like an elderly Northampton County woman who's sick with a liver condition has been visited by a grinch.

Her family says someone stole Nancy Hess's Christmas decorations right out of her front yard on Buttermilk Road in Williams Township.

Hess's daughter, Darlene Ruth, said, "Christmas is suppose to be about giving, sharing."

Thieves ignored the meaning of Christmas on Saturday by ruining a family tradition that's being going on for decades.

Ruth said, "As soon as we came down the road, I noticed that two of my moms decorations were missing and the family is very upset."

Ruth said, the decorations are important to the family for two reasons.

As a foster child, Darlene's mother could only look forward to an orange and candy cane during the holidays, so when she got married she started the tradition of adding a new decoration to her yard every year.

The other reason is because Nancy is battling a liver condition and the decorations lift her spirits.

Ruth said, "Why would you want to hurt somebody? These things are memories, memories for us memories for my mom."

The family is heartbroken because they want Hess to enjoy life for as long as she can and Darlene has message to the grinch who tried to steal their Christmas.

She said, "How would they feel if it was stolen from them and their parents house and they might not have their parents next Christmas."

She wants the thieves to feel sympathy and return the decorations and commented, "If you have a heart do something, do the right thing."
