A man accused of using counterfeit money at several Bethlehem Township businesses has been arrested.

Estiber Cabrera, 26 of Bronx, N.Y., was arrested and charged Sunday with passing counterfeit $100 bills. He is in Northampton County Prison on $25,000 cash bail. Charges include forgery, possession of instruments of a crime, theft by deception.

According to police, Cabrera was part of a group of men who used the counterfeit money to make nominal purchases at the Southmont Shopping Center in the township.

Police said they arrested Carbrera after locating and stopping his vehicle, which matched a description given by store employees. Cabrera and the other suspect had allegedly used 18 fake $100 bills at several stores at the mall including Best Buy, Pier 1 Imports, Barnes and Noble, Pets Supply Plus and Lowe's. Police said the suspects would use the fake $100s to purchase small items and receive real cash for change in return.

Police said they found an additional 19 fake $100 bills after executing a search warrant on Cabrera's vehicle.

A total of $3,700 in counterfeit bills have been found.

The investigation is ongoing. The Bethlehem Township Police Department has contacted the U.S. Secret Service.
