Top News : Donations sought for students displaced by dorm fire

There are now ways to help the nearly 70 students who lost items in a fire at a boarding school dorm in eastern Berks County on Tuesday.


Students at Pine Forge Academy in Douglass Township were not allowed back in their rooms after a fire broke out inside the girl's dorm. The building suffered smoke and water damage.


School officials say donations can be made on Pine Forge Academy's website, and gift cards are being accepted to help students replace damaged items.


Fire officials say they believe the fire started when a laundry basket was placed next to a heater.
