No injuries after train collides with empty SUV in Allentown

A train collided with an SUV Saturday night in Allentown.


According to Assistant Chief Medero, the SUV had gotten stuck in the train tracks at 12th and Vultee streets. The train came crashing into it just before 9:45 p.m.


Medero says no one was in the vehicle at the time of the accident, so there were no injuries.


The circumstances under which the vehicle was vacant are still unclear. Medero did not know if the occupants had emptied the car when they saw the train coming or if it had been abandoned there earlier.


The SUV was turned upside down by the train.


There was no real damage to the train.


The incident is still under investigation.
