Officials at the Lehigh County Humane Society are asking residents to help them meet an increased demand for pet food donations this holiday season.
The Humane Society says the holiday season is often a challenging time for its animal shelter.
Teisha Ellison of the Humane Society said "It's a sad reality that when the holidays come, people are getting rid of pets they've had a long time.. So our numbers go up, and unfortunately this time of year sometimes the donations go down."
Right now, the animal shelter is in urgent need of dry dog food, and wet and dry cat food.
Donations can be dropped off to the Lehigh County Humane Society at 640 Dixon Street in Allentown.
