A 4-year-old boy is being treated for serious injuries he suffered, allegedly at the hands of a Reading woman.
Anairis Sullivan-Reyes admitted to Berks County detectives that she inflicted multiple injuries on the child, between March 2014 and the time he was hospitalized on Saturday, according to court documents.
The boy suffered serious injuries throughout his body, including injuries to his head, face, ears, upper torso, back, arms and legs, authorities said.
The injuries also included laceration and linear marks that are consistent with being tied up for long periods of time, and his weight was well below average, making it apparent he had been starved, detectives said.
Sullivan-Reyes told investigators she has hated the boy since the day he was born and would be happy if she never saw him again, according to court documents.
Detectives did not disclose the relationship between Sullivan-Reyes and the boy, who was initially treated at Reading Hospital before being transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
Sullivan-Reyes, 21, of Reading's Glenside neighborhood, was charged Sunday with aggravated assault, unlawful restraint and endangering the welfare of children. She was committed to the Berks County Jail on $100,000 bail.
