A Northampton County grand jury investigation has pointed to a suspect in the June shooting of a Bethlehem man.
District Attorney John Morganelli announced the results of the investigation at a news conference on Monday.
The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on June 15 near the intersection of Atlantic and Pfeiffle streets in Bethlehem.
The victim, 19-year-old Anthony Berliner told the grand jury that he was heading to meet his friend Leah Cadwallader at her car when a man got out of the car, walked toward him and fired a gun at him.
Berliner said the shooter was 19-year-old Evan Castellanos, who was an acquaintance of his.
Berliner stumbled to a neighbor's, who called 9-1-1.
According to court documents, Berliner said he was shot in the chest, and the injury "created a substantial risk of death," along with massive blood loss, a collapsed lung and multiple broken ribs.
A Bethlehem police detetctive said he had interviewed Cadwallader and Castellanos over the phone after the shooting and both said they were in New York City, or the New York area at the time of the shooting.
Detectives found evidence including cell phone records and GPS mappings, and store receipts that placed the two in the Lehigh Valley at the time of the shooting, documents say.
Castellanos, of the 1100 block of Trexlertown Road in Upper Macungie Township, faces charges of attempted criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, and aggravated assault.
Morganelli said Castellanos was in custody in Florida awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania.
