EPA fines Mack Trucks $55K for hazardous waste violation

A Lehigh County company is facing a fine for improperly managing hazardous waste.

In a settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Mack Trucks Inc. has agreed to pay a $54,800 penalty and to properly manage the hazardous waste at its truck assembly plant in Macungie.

The fine settles the alleged violations of hazardous waste regulations.

After inspecting the facility, the EPA cited Mack for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) violations governing the treatment, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.

According to the EPA, the RCRA is designed to protect public health and the environment, as well as avoiding costly cleanups by requiring the safe, environmentally sound storage and disposal of hazardous waste.
