A routine training mission turned into the real thing for a K-9 officer and his four-legged partner from Berks County.
The Spring Township team was training in North Coventry Township, Chester County, when someone robbed a bank in nearby Pottstown, Montgomery County, police said.
The holdup happened around 2 p.m. Wednesday at the PNC Bank at High and Wilson streets.
The Spring Township officers joined in a foot pursuit of the bank bandit, but his scent was lost a few blocks away, police said.
Police have not provided a description of the robber or said how much money he got away with.
