The Pennridge boys basketball team edged Reading in a PIAA Class AAAA thriller on Saturday, while the Conrad Weiser girls advanced in the AAA bracket, setting up a showdown with Bethlehem Catholic.

The Rams bested the Red Knights, 61-59, in a PIAA Class AAAA opener. The Red Knights had a chance to tie it in the final seconds, but they could not get the shot to go.

Earlier in the night, Conrad Weiser pulled away from Athens, 48-36. Kennedy Lutz led the Scouts with 12 points.

Weiser advances to the second round to face Becahi.
