Police apprehend man accused of metal thefts

Police said they've nabbed the man responsible for a rash of metal thefts in Shillington and West Reading.

Jason Boettner is accused of stealing copper downspouts from homes and selling them at a local scrap yard.

Police said the downspouts can be worth hundreds of dollars a piece.

Boettner, 40, was committed to the Berks County Jail on charges of theft, criminal mischief and criminal trespassing.
