5 cows shot by unknown suspect, officials say

State police are looking for the person who shot five cows at a farm in Schuylkill County, then fled the scene.

According to police, someone approached a cow pen at Hepler's farm at 121 Helfenstein Road in Eldred Township sometime between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday and shot five cows one time each.

Three of the cows were killed. One of the surviving cows will have to be put down, officials said, and the other will be okay.

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to call state police in Schuylkill Haven at 570-739-1330.
