Officials are investigating the death of a Lehigh County man who had been in hospice care ever since being arrested by Easton police nearly two months ago.

Andrew Ohl, 25, of Upper Saucon Township died yesterday.

His cause of death is pending toxicology results.

Officials say Ohl was a prison inmate on work release when he was involved in a scuffle with police back on November 25th at the Easton Corner Grocery and Deli.

Police say they were called out to the store for a silent panic alarm.

They say Ohl attacked a police officer as soon as the officer entered the store.

Police say they called an ambulance for Ohl.

They say he went into cardiac arrest after being given a sedative by ems personnel.

Police say the synthetic drug k2 was found in Ohl's prison cell.

Easton Mayor Sal Panto says officers acted appropriately to subdue Ohl.

Easton Police are internally investigating the use of force.

Former Penn State players celebrate Paterno win restoration

Former football players at Penn State University, coached by the late Joe Paterno, are reacting after a major announcement by the NCAA Friday.

The school and the association reached an agreement that reinstates 112 wins vacated in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

The reinstatement also makes Paterno the winningest coach in college history, with 409 wins as head coach.

"I think it's a great thing for the players, the people that were a part of those wins, the coaching staff, the people that put all of the work into it," said Matt Senneca, a who played quarterback for the Nittany Lions and graduated in 2002.

Mike Cerimele played for Paterno from 1996-2000 as a fullback.

He called the announcement a victory for not only players and Paterno, but the entire Penn State family.

Though, he went on to say the announcement means much more than a winning record.

"It's not about the wins, it's about replacing, I guess getting people to understand how important Joe was and how things went down," Cerimele said.

Both players are hoping to see the Paterno statue, brought down in 2012, erected on campus.

"It was pretty ugly, but this is a step in the right direction and you have to keep the ball rolling," Cerimele said. "We can start by getting that statue back on campus, naming that field after him.

He wouldn't want that, but it's what is right and what he deserves."

Life Lessons: What to do after car accident

It’s not something any of us want to think about, but having a car accident is a possibility for anyone.

Statistics show over the course of a lifetime, the average driver will have three or four car accidents so the collision is unfortunately a part of life.

If it does happen, what should you do?

Theresa Podguski, director of legislative affairs for AAA East Central in Allentown says you need to try to stay calm and focused. She says it helps to make a plan before a collision ever happens.

"Emotions do play a part in it. You get excited in the event of a collision, so this way if you're prepared in advance, you have those thoughts in your head and those steps down," says Podguski.

Once an accident happens, she says, take a deep breath and look around.

"You want to assess the situation. Are you injured? Are your passengers injured? And then, is it safe for you to exit your vehicle?"

Next, she says, get your car to the side of the road if you can and make sure to turn your engine off.

"If you cannot move the vehicle, if it is not in driveable condition, make sure you're turning on the emergency flashers. Use warning triangles or emergency flares to warn oncoming traffic that there has been a collision."

And most importantly, don't say, "I'm sorry" to anyone.

"We want to make sure that you don't say that 'I am at fault.' There may be someone else who is more at fault than you. Let the police officers do their investigation and assess that," Podguski says.

In addition, be sure to:

Exchange information with the other driver.

Get information from any witnesses

Notify your insurance agent as soon as you can.

When should you call the police?

"If someone is injured, if someone has died in the collision or if a vehicle needs to be towed."

Podguski adds that even if the police don't come to the scene, you can notify them later to get a police report of the incident.

You may also want to take photos or videos of the accident scene and record anything noteworthy, like the time of day and weather conditions.

Man jailed, another sought in armed home invasion in Lower Alsace

One man is behind bars and another is being sought in the armed invasion of a home in Berks County.

It all began with a knock on the door of the home in the 600 block of North 25th Street in Lower Alsace Township early Thursday morning, according to Central Berks Regional police, who were dispatched to the scene at 12:44 a.m.

When the 23-year-old man opened the door, two black men wearing black bandannas forced their way inside, said police, adding that one of the intruders held a handgun to the victim's stomach while the other bound him with duct tape.

The intruders told the victim they wanted his Xbox video game console, which they took, along with numerous games and accessories, a laptop computer and other items, police said.

The intruders then ordered the victim to get underneath the dining room table and stay there for one hour, police said.

As both men fled the home in a vehicle, the uninjured victim sought help from his father, who was asleep in the home and unaware of what had happened, according to police.

During the course of their investigation, police said they identified Dominique Dexter Lane as a suspect in the home invasion.

Officers, armed with a search warrant, then responded to Lane's home in the 1100 block of Scott Street in Reading, where they recovered the handgun used in the crime and all of the victim's stolen items, except for the laptop computer, police said.

Lane was charged with robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, firearms not to be carried without a license, unlawful restraint, possessing an instrument of a crime, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property, simple assault, false imprisonment, and recklessly endangering another person. He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $100,000 bail.

The second intruder has not been identified. Anyone with information that can help police with their investigation is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
