Berks judge denies school board's appeal in Wyomissing fence feud

A Berks County judge has denied the Wyomissing Area School Board's latest attempt to put a fence around its high school football field in Wyomissing.


Judge A. Joseph Antanavage ruled Friday in favor of the borough's zoning board, which denied a permit for the fence in October. The school board was appealing that ruling.


Supporters have said a fence around the field would help prevent vandalism and ensure that those who attend athletic events pay admission fees; opponents have said the fence would be expensive and prevent community access to the field.


The school board can appeal Friday's decision, officials said.
