The District I champion Boyertown wrestling team picked up right where it left off on Thursday in the first round of the state tournament at the Giant Center. Spring-Ford, meanwhile, drew a tough customer in their first round dual.

The Bears racked up eight pins en route to a 65-3 clobbering of St. Mary's out of District 9.

Boyertown advances to Friday's AAA quarterfinals where they will face Belle Vernon at 2:00.

The Bears rival out of the PAC-10, Spring-Ford, met defending state champion Franklin Regional in the first round.

The Rams could not overcome the perennial power in a 49-18 loss.
