RadioShack's plans to close about half of its stores in the next six weeks will impact Berks County.
The troubled company released Monday the list of 1,784 RadioShack stores it said are due to close by March 31.
They include the RadioShack store in the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing and the store at 4302 N. Fifth St. Hwy. in Muhlenberg Township.
The closures will leave RadioShack with two remaining stores in Berks County, one on Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter Township; the other in the Weis Plaza in Kutztown. The company also has stores in Ephrata and Pottstown.
The company has not said how many jobs will be lost from the store closings, or from the company giving up about one third of the floor space in its remaining stores to cell phone provider Sprint.
RadioShack had about 21,000 employees as of its bankruptcy filing last Thursday.
