When it comes to college rivalries in the area, Lehigh-Lafayette comes second to none. When it's the only big game in town, the spotlight is even brighter. The men tipped off the two-day rivalry series in Easton on Saturday.
Behind a perfect day at the free throw line and some clutch late shots, the Mountain Hawks toppled Lafayette, 75-71, at Kirby Sports Center.
Lehigh went 15-15 from the charity stripe. Austin Price led the way with 16 points, while Tim Kempton added a double-double, including a big three-pointer with less than four minutes left that made it a 5-point game.
Dan Trist paced Lafayette with 20 points. Nick Lindner had 19 points while Seth Hinrichs added 17.
Lehigh improves to 4-4 in Patriots League play. The Leopards drop to 3-5.
