A severely abused pot-bellied pig, left for dead, has found a new loving home in Quakertown.

Her name is Cheesedoodle and her playful personality, mixed with being fully house trained, has helped the pig win over the hearts of the entire staff at Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown.

"We have her big quilt and she is all set up like a princess," Last Chance Ranch Kennel Manager, AnnMarie Petitto-Thomas said.

Petitto-Thomas says someone in Philadelphia called Animal Control after finding Cheesedoodle with a severe neck injury. Petitto-Thomas decided to take the pig in. After treating the injury, she says she thinks someone tried to make Cheesedoodle Christmas dinner.

"I mean this looks bad right now but I mean it was horrendous," Petitto-Thomas said.

Initially it was thought that the humane thing to do was to euthanize the pig, but Cheesedoodle's miraculous recovery and charming demeanor caused ranch hands to change their mind.

"It is amazing to me how forgiving she is, and how trusting she is," Petitto-Thomas said. "She never doubted that we weren't going to do anything but the best for her."

Cheesedoodle, now lives happily among the other animals at the ranch.

"She came pretty close to crossing that rainbow bridge, but she's going to be fine," Petitto-Thomas said. "Our volunteers just fawn over her, she is the kennel favorite now."

Pettito-Thomas says after getting Cheesedoodle back on her feet at the ranch, she will work to find another loving permanent home for the pot-bellied pig who received a second chance at life.
