The main order of business at the Spring Twp. Board of Supervisors' meeting Monday evening, was the approval of the 2015 budget for the township.

The board voted to pass the $24.2 million budget with a $55,000 increase over the current year, yet the township was able to avoid raising taxes for its residents.

In other news, a local resident of the Lenape Valley neighborhood within the township spoke to the board regarding a request for a series of four-way stop signs along Martins Road, but particularly at the intersection of Martins Road with Wyoming Drive where her children have a school bus stop.

The speed limit is 25 miles per hour on the road, but the resident estimated that the average car drives way above that speed and claimed that her family had been nearly struck on one occasion.

Board member James Oswald, who also serves on the township's transportation committee agreed to have an evaluation of the intersection done to see if it would be proper to install stop signs.

The township police department is trained to do these types of evaluations in which analyses of pedestrian traffic, accident occurrences and other warrants are looked at.

The board stated that they are not allowed to place stop signs as a "speed bump," but that they would evaluate other criteria to see if there is truly a need.

Of the five board members Patti Smith, Alan Kreider, James Oswald and Barry Ulrich were in attendance this evening. Board member Kyle Hummel was absent.

The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet again on Monday, December 22nd.
