Local officials have declared a war on drugs in Phillipsburg. Police have followed that up with a big heroin bust on Friday.

Now some residents say they feel more at ease.

"It's evident there is a problem here and anything they can do to fix that problem needs to happen, " said Steve Tallean of Phillipsburg.

After a three-week undercover investigation, Police say two people living on the 300 block of South Main Street were arrested Friday. More than 268 bags of heroin were seized along with marijuana and hypodermic needles.

"All of that is a step in the right direction," said Tracy Galleo.

This crackdown follows another big bust just a few months ago. Fourteen people were arrested for drug-related offenses in a two-week span in August.

Some residents tell us they have concerns about raising their kids in this area. While police are catching some of the criminals, locals fear there are many more out on the streets.

"If it gets worse, I will absolutely consider moving out of the area," said Tallean.

However, others say Phillisburg is home and a fine place to live and work.

"As long as you keep your head on straight and teach your kids right from wrong, this is a fine place to live and work," said Colten.
