A Chester County woman, her boyfriend and the boyfriend's estranged wife have been ordered to stand trial in connection with the killing of the woman's three-year-old son.
Jillian Tait, Gary Lee Fellenbaum III and Amber Fellenbaum waived their right Thursday to a preliminary hearing in Chester County.
For safety reasons, the suspects appeared before a judge via video from prison.
Tait and Gary Lee Fellenbaum are charged with first and third degree murder in the torture death of Tait's three-year-old son, Scott McMillan, on Nov. 4; Amber Fellenbaum is charged with failing to report the abuse.
Scott was hung upside down, whipped and beaten with a frying pan in the days leading up to his death inside his home in West Caln Township, authorities said.
A group of people, including some children, gathered outside the district court building in Honey Brook, holding signs in support of Scott and his six-year-old brother, who, officials said, was also abused.
One sign read, "It should not hurt to be a child." Another stated, "They should run toward you, not away."
