Van, cement truck crash in York County; 4 Amish relatives die

Four members of an Amish family were killed in the crash of a hired van that was transporting them home from a funeral.

Elizabeth Esh, 22, died Tuesday, a day after she delivered a stillborn boy, according to the York County coroner's office.

Her relatives, Emmanuel Esh and Melvin Esh, died Monday at the scene of the wreck in Lower Chanceford Township, York County.

The victims were passengers in a van operated by Connie Lally, 49, state police said. It turned into the path of a concrete truck driven by John Ehrhart, 60. The van then struck a third vehicle.

"At this point, it is pretty clear that the driver of the van was at fault," said Trooper Rob Hicks, Pennsylvania State Police.

The coroner's office said the two men are brothers and related to Elizabeth Esh by marriage. Autopsies will be performed on the three, plus the baby.

The van had three other occupants.
