Mother Nature has forced officials to postpone work on Allentown's 8th Street Bridge.
Because of rain Monday, PennDOT will resume work on the Albertus L. Meyers Bridge on Tuesday.
Northbound bridge traffic will be closed to allow trucks to deliver cement for portions of the new bridge deck.
Traffic will be detoured on St. John Street, South Sixth Street, West Wyoming Street, South Fifth Street, Auburn Street, Union Street and Linden Street.
Pedestrians and emergency vehicles will still have access, and northbound traffic will be able to cross the bridge starting at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
The project to rehabilitate the bridge began in May.
For the duration of the project, southbound travel is closed and detoured.
The project is scheduled to finish in December 2016.
