A 15 year old Pennridge High School student traded the classroom for the courtroom. He's being charged with attempted rape, sexual assault and other charges.
Kodi Hendricks is being charged as an adult for allegedly trying to sexually assault a fellow student inside the school last month.
"Said there was an incident at the High School involving two students. One trapped a girl in the bathroom and tried to assault her," parent Nicole Stmler said of the e-mail sent to parents after the incident.
It was back on Friday October 17th around 6:40 in the morning that police say the teen used a kitchen knife, brought into the building in his boot, to chase and force a 15-year-old classmate into a locked bathroom stall. That's where police say he tried to rape her.
Court paperwork indicates a male teacher heard screaming and ran into the bathroom. Hendricks then allegedly began waving the knife at the teacher, threatening to cut him.
Hendricks eventually dropped the knife and was taken into custody. He's now facing a slew of charges including attempted rape and sexual assault.
The School District said it is working with a security company.
In a statement the district said "a debriefing meeting was held and they will be providing a written report to us. Recommendations will be implemented as necessary. As always, student and staff safety is a top priority."
Despite the dangerously close call Stmler echoed the same sentiment from every parent we spoke to about safety within the school.
"They're pretty on top of things they call police if a problem and send out emails right away," she said.
Court paperwork also says Hendricks was angry at the girl and used the knife to intimidate her. Hendricks remains in custody..and is due back in court next month.
