In the wake of public input, officials say the proposed PennEast Pipeline will be subject to additional review before it can move forward.
The Delaware River Basin Commission says it has received multiple requests from the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, as well as hundreds of letters from individuals.
As a result, the commission has determined that the PennEast Pipeline project will be subject to DRBC jurisdiction and must obtain a docket before it can proceed.
According to a letter sent to the head of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network, DRBC Executive Steve Tambini says the sponsors of the pipeline project have been asked to submit an application to the DRBC and to request a pre-application meeting.
The 108 mile PennEast Pipeline, which will carry natural gas from the Marcellus Shale, is set to snake its way from Luzerne County to near Trenton, New Jersey. The proposed path would cut through parts of Carbon, Bucks and Northampton Counties.
