Police officers aren't often treated as movie stars but don't tell that to Jamie and Lauren Nauman.
"Everyone needs a Biven's hug. He makes everyone feel better about life," the girls said about Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police.
The pair came to Tuesday's event called Pocono Proud. Held inside the Pocono Mountain East High School's Auditorium where it was Law Enforcement's turn to return that affection to the community.
"Every time I made a drive to Canadensis or 911 Center or Blooming Grove Barracks I felt like I got a big hug from the Poconos. So today I just wanted to give you a hug right back," PSP Commissioner Frank Noonan said from a podium.
For 48 days lives in the Poconos were put on hold during the manhunt for Eric Frein. However within the chaos the community became a vital part of the investigation, donating thousands of pounds of food and hanging blue ribbons in a show of support.
"I have to say it really kind of took us and made us really feel like a part of the community and family," Bivens said.
Certificates of appreciation were handed out to more than 90 organizations including a Cub Scout that gathered and donated supplies.
"We didn't expect recognition but it's a pleasant surprise," John Allen said.
The Red Cross's Neil and Yvonne Young and their black lab Cinderella delivered food to troopers out in the field.
"Next to Frein, I was the most wanted person because they didn't get their breakfast until I got there," Neil said.
Most here didn't do it for applause but it doesn't hurt to hear.
