A federal judge is hearing arguments on New Jersey's efforts to allow sports betting.



Last month a temporary restraining order was issued to block the opening of sports betting just two days before it was scheduled to begin.



Governor Chris Christie and New Jersey lawmakers say the practice could help revive the state's struggling casinos but the NCAA and four major sports leagues say sports betting violates federal law and the state's constitution.



A ruling on the ban is expected by Friday.
