If you live near Limerick Nuclear Power Plant and your Potassium Iodide (KI) pills expire at the end of the year, the health department has your new dose.

The Montgomery County Health Department will provide free potassium iodide tablets to Montgomery County residents who currently have tablets with a December 2014 expiration date and who live, work, or attend school within a 10-mile radius of the Limerick Generating Station.

Bring your soon-to-expire pills and the Health Department will dispose of them.

The Montgomery County Health Department has arranged three KI distribution sites within the 10-mile radius of the Limerick Generating Station on November 20th from 9AM - 7PM:

Pottstown Community Health and Dental Care

700 Heritage Drive, Pottstown, PA 19464

November 20th 9AM - 6PM

Spring Valley Y.M.C.A

19 W. Linfield Road, Royersford, PA 19468

Pottstown Health Center

Pills can also be picked up daily, Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm at the Pottstown Health Center, 364 King Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.

An additional location for KI tablet distribution for Limerick Generating Station will also be held at:

Residents can also call Pottstown Health Center at 610-970-5040 anytime of the year to inquire about the KI tablets.

Potassium iodide, or KI, can help protect the thyroid gland against harmful radioactive iodine when taken as directed during radiological emergencies. Individuals should only take KI when told to do so by state health officials or the governor.
