The man who was shot by police in Warren County, New Jersey, on Monday has died from his injuries, officials said.


Thomas Reed, 36, died Monday afternoon at St. Luke's Hospital, according to the Lehigh County coroner.


The cause of death is attributed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death is pending further investigation.


The Warren County prosecutor said police officers arrived at Reed's home on South Main Street in Phillipsburg on Monday morning to do a welfare check on a man allegedly making threats.


Police said Reed was wielding a knife and refused to put it down. That's when, officials said, Reed was shot.


Three Phillipsburg police officers have been placed on administrative leave in the wake of the incident.
