Top News : Below-average temperatures, wind combine for harsh conditions

After a chilly, rainy day, the area will see the rain come to an end Monday evening and the clouds clear out overnight.

The clearing will be accompanied by increasingly windy conditions and temperatures that will turn much colder.

With that in mind, it's certainly possible that wet surfaces freeze overnight before they have an opportunity to dry. So, be on the lookout for slick spots Monday night and throughout the day on Tuesday when most of the area will not top out above 32 degrees.

The colder temperatures and windy conditions will combine to push the wind chills into the teens and 20s on Tuesday. All of that will be occurring under partly sunny skies.

The region will experience similar conditions on Wednesday, so once the colder, windy conditions get here, they'll stick around through the middle of the work week.

Thursday's temperatures will bounce back to 40 degrees under mostly sunny skies, but even that will be 10 to 15 degrees below average daytime highs this time of year, and the winds will still make it feel colder.
