Community members are demanding justice for the brutal shooting death of their loved one.
Friday night, friends turned out to the 800 block of Green Street in Reading, and lit candles in memory of John Valentine Villareal.
Villareal, 29, was shot and killed in the first-floor apartment of 817 Green Street, around 1:00 a.m., Friday morning, authorities said.
As friends hugged and shared memories of the good times, they also expressed their rage.
"This is really hard to lose somebody that we all care about so much. It's a big hole in our heart that won't be able to be filled by anybody," said one friend, who did not want to reveal his name.
At the moment, details are scarce, but investigators say the crime wasn't an accident, and Villareal was targeted.
Something that makes no sense to close friends.
"He was a loving, caring person, a great friend, a great uncle and he would give you the shirt off his back if he had to," said another friend who showed up to Friday night's vigil.
Authorities are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area, hoping for a break in the case.
Loved ones say they just was justice to be served.
"Whoever did this, they need to be caught and dealt with," said Jessica Lopez, friend of the victim.
Several people have been questioned, but there have been no arrests, and police say there is still no motive.
Authorities say drugs may have been a factor.
If you have any information that could help police solve this case, you're urged to call 911.
