A planned street closure Monday for the American Street Parkway project has been postponed.
According to city officials, the project coordinator has postponed the scheduled closing of Front Street.
A new date has not been set and no reason was given for the postponement.
Front Street was supposed to close Monday from Furnace Street to Kurtz Street to allow crews to demolish the existing Front Street bridge over American Parkway and complete a new intersection.
When the demolition starts, residents can expect Furnace Street to be closed for nearly a year.
The federally funded $60 million dollar project has been in the planning process for more than 50 years.
